Lucio Perone Curriculum

Lucio Perone was born in Naples and attended the Liceo Artistico in Benevento and in 1994 graduated in sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Napoli.

He and his brother Peppe shared the same educational training and professional beginnings and both participated in the Bandiere di Maggio (Flags of May) in Naples in 2000. On that occasion he displayed 15 pencils in PVC and resin in Piazza del Plebiscito. Pencils are the subject several times repeated by the artist, which proposes them in various sizes hanging on the wall or on the horizontal plane of a chair. The artist represents objects that infiltrate into space marking it, common objects that Perone reworks and reproduces not forgetting the meanings of words, and then with a conceptual foundation. His sculptures stand out for their cheeky irony, becausethey are able to present objects and subjects popular in a very realistic look, but in composition entirely improbable.
