More about Coderch & Malavia
Coderch&Malavia-the now world-famous Spanish duo-succeed in the miracle of making their sculptures look ancient and at the same time modern. In their work, however, there is no temptation to copy classical models, as other contemporary artists do. On the contrary, their greatness is precisely in inventing new forms, first shaping the material and then making it eternal in bronze. Thus are born sculptures of rare beauty, in which the truth of the bodies depicted is enhanced, in which movement and perfection of gesture are sublimely captured. The women acquire an absolute lightness and the muses seem to move in the water or remain suspended happily in the air, as if the present moment could be stopped.
