Alice Zanin Curriculum

Self-taught artist, Alice chooses to focus on her personal papier-mâché technique starting from the beginning of 2012.
The poetics of Alice’s work are intimately linked to paper and its lightness as well as to the animal subject: the papier-mâché allows the artist to create a kind of sculpture free from the idea of solidity to the point of floating in the air. Over a period of time, the artist has achieved very refined results by replacing the textual parts of newspapers from the surfaces of the pieces, with painting or an intricate mosaic of harmoniously colored papers.
Alice’s current work -even though still sculptural- is oriented towards installations, which create, between her works and objects, a dialogue focused upon inconsistency and association of ideas. The choice of the objects often leads to a misinterpretation of their common function, thus generating mutual awkwardness and gallant irony between them and the animals.
While papier-mâché is still her material of choice, the artist has started experimenting two-dimensional works, and has enriched her
The artist took part in national and international art fairs and exhibitions.
Among her solo exhibitions are noteworthy: Uccellacci&Uccellini. Da Darwin a Pasolini (2018, Palazzo della Regione, Bologna), Animali Incartati (2017, Triennale, Milano) and The Great Hippocampus Question (2016, Palazzo della Permanente, Milano).
In 2018 she was included by Exibart magazine among the 222 emerging artists to invest in, and was a finalist in several international competitions such as the Arteam Cup (2016) and the Combat Prize (2014).
Her works belong to public and private collections in Italy, Austria, Belgium, USA, Canada and Venezuela. Alice lives and works in Podenzano (PC), Italy.
